It is non - magnetic in the annealed condition but it becomes magnetic when cold worked.

Flareless Pipe Fittings is used for aircraft structural parts, architectural & automotive trim, automobile wheel covers, conveyor belts & appliances. This alloy is used to form washer & springs, and its combination between ductility & toughness is excellent even at low temperature. Flareless Compression Tube Fittings has slightly higher carbon version than SS 304, which is further widely used in the stamping, spinning & wire forming industry.

Its weldability is also good, where having other diameters may be furnished, provided such tubes comply with all other requirements of this specification. Flareless Compression Pipe Fittings provides excellent toughness and is frequently used for aircraft fittings, electrical switchgear components etc. It offers excellent machinability, good strength & corrosion resistance, and is mainly used in parts requiring cold forming after machining. It has characteristics like deep drawing quality, excellent toughness, low temperature properties responding well to hardening by cold working & forming & welding properties.

Over the past forty years it has been widely used for its strength at high temperatures and its ability to resist oxidation, carburization, and other types of high - temperature corrosion.
